Escalation,Solo Exhibition,BMW Art Center,ShenYang,2020
As the name of this exhibition “Escalation” suggests,
It captures the metamorphosis in which human beings and art interacts.
“Escalation” can be perceived as 3 progressive phases:
To move - embellishing
To blend - understanding
To transform - flourishing
The inspiration of creation usually arises from daily lives,
Through meditation and enlightenment, a new interpretation in the form of art is born
An elevated form of living through transformation and understanding
This escalation process aligns with the aim of The Young Curators’ Program:
In the development of art history, pioneers have made the difficult start,
Through time, different schools of art have come to inspire the public,
As a cradle for the up and coming artists for further advancement, bringing the industry to new horizon
This solo exhibition features the masterpieces by Artist Shang Chengxiang. Born in Shenyang in Northeastern China, raised in Tiexi’s historical industrial district, graduated from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, Shang Chengxiang is one of the most recognizable artists in contemporary paintings.
Shang Chengxiang works have been displayed in numerous solo and group exhibitions alike and have been under the collection of White Rabbit Art Museum in Australia, DSL Collection in France, The American Embassy in Shenyang and other foreign galleries and collectors.
Aerospace technologies have marked the most forefront developments of the industrial era and the artist has extended his most vivid imagination to this aspect, whereas this forward-thinking practice aligns with BMW’s brand vision in continuous developments and innovations. Some of the artist’s most representative works have been selected for this exhibition at the BMW Artplant.
